Gabrielskloof The Blend

R140.00

A juicy and expertly structured vintage that is also earthier than its predecessor. Dark chocolate, black cherry and plum are given heft by leather, pencil shavings and sweet spice. A slightly higher alcohol is matched with fresh acidity, while supple tannins ensure the finish is long. A wine that will age well but is approachable now.

Gabrielskloof Wines

While Bernhard Heyns was still living in Johannesburg - he had a dream of starting a wine farm from scratch. In 2001, his dream started to become a reality when he bought a Canola farm in Bot River. He saw its potential to produce excellent quality wines and started growing vines in 2002 - their first vintage was in 2008.Gabrielskloof is a family-run business. Bernhard's daughter Nicolene is married to Peter-Allan Finlayson who owns Crystallum wines. Peter-Allan joined the Gabrielskloof team as winemaker in 2014 and he has been making beautiful elegant wines for them ever since his first vintage in 2015.
TEAM: Peter-Allan Finlayson is the head winemaker at Gabrielskloof. He is the son of Peter Finlayson, the Pioneer of Pinot Noir who founded Bouchard Finlayson and, like his father, he has a passion for making wine and has proven to be exceptional at it. Nicolene is involved with the business side of Gabrielskloof and together with an excellent team, she ensures that visitors to the farm are very well looked after.
LOCATION: Gabrielskloof is located just after the Bot River turn-off from the N2 between Elgin and Hermanus. There are two main soil types on the farm – sandstone and shale and the wines produced are a reflection of the terroir. They farm sustainably and aim to protect and preserve the environment as much as possible.
